Why We Should Study Geography
Each subject has its own goals and objectives. Geography is a dynamic subject whose diverse aspects have developed on scientific basis in recent times. Reading geography develops many abilities in us; Like the ability to adjust to the environment , Ability to understand the variations of the earth plane ,Development of skill of visual knowledge ,Development of healthy and balanced approach , Capacity to contribute to national development .
Now you would also like to ask another question that geography What is it?
Geography is the scripture describing the earth. Earth is home to humans and all other small and big creatures. The physical nature of the Earth is not the same everywhere. On it, mountains, plateaus, plains and valleys are found, while elsewhere sea, lakes, deserts, forests and desolate areas are found. This variation of material elements has given rise to differences in social and cultural elements which are reflected in the long journey of cultural development as man-made villages, towns, markets, railroads, ports and many other human-made elements. . This difference provides us with an understanding of the relationship between the physical environment and cultural traits. The physical environment presents a platform on which human societies conduct creative activities with the help of tools derived from technological development. Geography is the description of the differences of these physical and human (cultural) elements found on the earth plane.
Geography derives information from all natural and social sciences (Database) and synthesizes it. Thus geography is different from other subjects both in subject matter and method of law. In its nature it is a synthesis science. Geography is considered a subject studying regional variation. Geography studies all the facts which differ in regional context.
Therefore, geography is interested in knowing the Cause and Effect Relationship found between any two elements or more than one element. A geographer interprets facts only in the framework of work-cause relations. With this, not only are we able to interpret the facts easily, but we also develop the ability to look into the forecasting and future perspective.
Three Fundamental Questions of Geography: As a scientific subject, geography seeks answers to three interrelated questions (1) What - These questions replicate the natural and cultural features we find on the ground. Let's identify. The answer to this question tells us what is the object to be studied?
(ii) Where (?) - These questions are related to the distribution of physical and cultural elements on Earth. These questions give us the answer that where is the object, field or event being studied?
(ii) Why? - This third question gives geography the status of science. This question explains the distribution and exposes the work-cause relationship of the elements and facts.
The theme of geography is related to 'place' or 'space'. Therefore, geography describes spatial characteristics. It studies the status of facts in the region, their patterns of distribution and centralization, and interprets them to explain them. Geography analyzes the association and inter-relationship between phenomena arising out of dynamic interactions between the human and its physical environment.
Career Options in Geography
Due to the touch of every aspect of life, the field of geography subject is increasing day by day. Therefore, geography is presently presenting many challenging career options to the youth.
(i) Many teaching positions are vacant in government and especially private schools, colleges and universities. If you can speak fluency on your subject in your mother tongue as well as English then there is no shortage of jobs in this field.
(ii) There is a demand for geographers in many specialized and technical fields like Survey of India, Cartography, Town and Country Planning.
(iii) In the field of remote sensing, geographers also get jobs. Geographers remain high officials at remote sensing centers located in Hyderabad, Dehradun and other cities.
(iv) Jobs are also available for geographers in the fields of climatology, ground hydrology, oceanography, social survey, census and environment.
(v) National Aeronautics and Space Administration # Geographers of the United States holds honorable positions. (vi) At present, a large number of candidates are getting successful in the Civil Services examinations sponsored by UPSC and the Public Service Commissions of the States, taking Geography as an Optional Subject and IAS, IPS, IFS, HCS, RAS etc. Are being made
